Former Sampdoria and Empoli coach Gigi Cagni feels that Inter have more to lose from their Serie A clash with Juventus this weekend than the Bianconeri do.

Speaking to Italian news outlet JuventusNews24, Cagni gave the view that the Nerazzurri still have a lot to play for in the head-to-head clash whilst the Bianconeri are taking one final shot at the Scudetto race.

Inter are six points behind AC Milan and three behind Napoli, albeit with a game in hand on each, and with nine matches still to play they will hardly feel that the gap is insurmountable in the Serie A title race.

However, a loss or a draw against the Bianconeri could see them drop further behind their rivals and start to feel their chances in the title race ebb away.

Juventus, meanwhile, are a point behind the Nerazzurri and have no games in hand on either of the two sides at the top, so they will feel that while a win would be massive for their hopes, dropped points wouldn’t put them much further back than they already are.

“It’s a very big opportunity for Inter,” Cagni said. “In my opinion Juventus will never get into the fight for the Scudetto this seasons, because three teams would have to play padly and Juve would have to win almost all of their matches.”

“So it is Inter who have the most to lose on Sunday,” he concluded.
