Former Genoa defender Claudio Onofri has said that if he were in Paulo Dybala’s situation he would rather stay than go to Inter, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with TMW Radio, Claudio Onofri explained that after playing for a team for seven years, he would feel more of a connection to those colours.

“It’s difficult to understand his real intentions. After playing for Juve for seven years and wearing the captain’s armband, I would stay there. I would feel connected to those colours.”

Paulo Dybala is out of contract with Juventus at the end of the season and the club have refused to offer him the amount of money that he wants to be paid. He is being seriously linked with a move to Inter in the summer.

It is clear that Claudio Onofri is a big fan of the Argentine forward and he really enjoys watching him play.

“I loved him from the first time I saw him. I am in love with that way of playing. It is true that he has had injuries and that the performances are not consistent, but when Dybala is on the pitch I keep the TV on.”

When asked if Paulo Dybala can get back to the level he was playing at about three years ago, Claudio Onofri suggested that only Max Allegri can really know.

“He has the Juventus captain’s armband but he doesn’t have that personality. It is impossible to say if he will return to what he used to be, only he and Allegri who sees him every day can know.”
