Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal feels that he and his teammates have a lot to be proud of in their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign despite failing to qualify for the tournament on the last day.

Writing in a heartfelt post in his Instagram account, the 34-year-old thanked the fans for their support through the entire process and expressed pride in the performances and in the way that the players gave their all even though it wasn’t enough in the end.

“I want to thank all of those who have always supported us,” he wrote, “and also tell everyone that as a Chilean and a participant in this process I feel tremendously proud of my teammates and of all those who accompanied us.”

He went on that “Despite the sadness that comes from not going to the World Cup, we will pick ourselves up and keep on fighting because we’re Chilean and that’s the only way we know how to do things!”
