Inter and AC Milan are building their new shared stadium because of the historic and international recognition of the two teams playing at the same ground, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, football is now at a point where the hospitality seats, shops, restaurants and attractions adorned with club colours are now internal to the ecosystem of a football club.

This financial and marketing element of the stadium is largely why the two Milan clubs are not going their own separate ways, as they have contemplated doing before.

From a touristic point of view, people recognise Inter and AC Milan as two teams that share their stadium and the club’s financial operations off of the pitch could be hindered if each had its own new stadium.

It is a symbol of the two clubs that share a stadium and that will continue in the future.
