Inter legend Beppe Bergomi has said that Robin Gosens and Ivan Perisic are very different players despite occupying the same position on the pitch, according to a report in the Italian media yesterday.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former defender explained that Ivan Perisic is a forward who has developed the ability to cover the entire wing but Robin Gosens is a natural defender at heart who has discovered attacking ability at Atalanta under Gianpiero Gasperini.

“They are two very different players. One was a forward and now he adapted well to the whole pitch, the other is a defender who went and scored goals with Gasperini.

“You have to keep him very high so that he can attack the far post. With different characteristics, they are both important.”

It is expected that Ivan Perisic will be chosen to start on the left wing against Juventus on Sunday when Inter travel to Turin.

Beppe Bergomi believes that in order for Inter to have success against the Bianconeri, whichever defender is in the middle of the three will have to do a serious man-marking job on the Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic.

“For the Nerazzurri it will be essential that De Vrij, or Skriniar if the Dutchman does not recover, mark Vlahovic. Juve will come out very strong on the centre forward and if you do not allow the Serbian to turn around and run, you’ve done half the work.”
