Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti has said he wants Argentine to win the World Cup with Lautaro Martinez as the top goalscorer, according to a report in the Argentinian broadcast media.

Speaking to Tyc Sports from Doha where the 2022 Qatar World Cup draw took place on Friday, via FCInternews, Javier Zanetti showed that he is not letting go of his Inter allegiances when it comes to what he hopes will happen in the World Cup this winter.

“Us as champions and Lautaro Martinez as top goal scorer? Maybe, I’ll sign up immediately. We know it’s always complicated, but I’m calm because I see that the national team is playing very well.”

He clearly feels confident about Argentina’s chances at the World Cup as it is a happy and united team that made light work of the qualification campaign in South America.

“Argentina play well, they have an identity and are showing it. The group is solid and united, so I’m happy. The draw? The important thing is that we are content, Messi is happy and he is a fundamental player. Winning the Copa America helped a lot.”

Inter has a rich tradition of Argentiian players which include Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa and many more besides.

Lautaro Martinez has been in poor form for Inter recently but he has still been scoring regularly for Argentina under Lionel Scaloni.
