The future of Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi could well be on the line when he sees his team face Juventus in tomorrow evening’s Serie A clash.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the outcome of the match could cast doubt on the long-expected contract extension for the coach should it put Inter out of the title race.

The Nerazzurri will not have expected a few weeks ago that this weekend’s match against the Bianconeri could be decisive for their Scudetto hopes.

However, the situation is now that Inter are chasing the two teams at the top of the table again, whilst a loss would see them drop all the way into fourth place, albeit with a game in hand on all three top four rivals.

President Steven Zhang and CEO Beppe Marotta continue to have trust in the work that Inzaghi has done, but if the team find themselves on the outside looking in to the title race in April, their faith could be tested.

The clubs directors have stressed to Inzaghi that right now it is all his responsibility to put out a team that looks refreshed, coherent and enthusiastic in the run-in of the season, starting tomorrow at the Allianz Stadium.

Should the coach fail to do so, it cannot be ruled out that his future as Inter coach will be on the line.
