Juventus head coach Max Allegri doesn’t feel that the possibility of preventing Inter from winning the Serie A title is a significant motivator for his team tomorrow.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach gave the view that the only thing on his and his players’ minds is achieving their own ambitions for the season.

Juventus come into tomorrow’s match just a point behind Inter, with the possibility of leapfrogging the Nerazzurri in the table with a win albeit with their rivals having a game in hand on them.

Given the significance of the rivalry between the two teams, preventing the Nerazzurri from winning the Scudetto for the second season in a row could well be seen as an important objective for the Bianconeri.

However, in Allegri’s view, this is not important for them as they have their own targets to hit this season, namely ensuring that they finish in the top four of the table, and this is why they will be fighting for the result.

“We won’t play to deny Inter the Scudetto,” he said, “but to get points to get to make it into the top four, our goal is to play in the Champions League next year.”

Of the Scudetto race, he said that “It’s difficult to say who the favourite us, I think that Inter – along with Napoli and Milan – are among the candidates to win the Scudetto.”

“Tomorrow we’ll have to put in a great performance against the Italian champions, to beat them and consolidate fourth place,” he went on. “We drew in Milan, lost in the Supercoppa, maybe tomorrow it’s our turn.”
