Former Inter defender Daniele Adani believes that Juventus coach Max Allegri should have pushed to keep Paulo Dybala at the club past the end of this season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Adani gave the view that the Bianconeri are making a big mistake in letting the Argentine go.

Dybala’s departure from Juventus on a free transfer is confirmed for the summer, and he could well be playing in a Nerazzurri shirt next season with Inter among the most strongly-linked teams for his signature.

Before then, however, the 28-year-old will try and finish the season in the best way, and he has at least one more chance to hurt Inter this evening.

Adani feels that there is no question that Dybala will be motivated to try be decisive for the Bianconeri despite the circumstances, while he feels that letting the player go is the wrong decision.

“Max is very good at working on the psychological side  of things and on the message that he sends to his players,” Adani said of Allegri.

“Saying ‘Dybala will play’ after all the rumours that have come up, in the match following the announcement of their parting of ways, is a way to free his head from the pressure and make him feel absolute trust from everyone,” he explained.

Of the decision not to extend Dybala’s contract, he said that “I was very amazed, I expected Paulo and Juve to continue together.”

“For me Juve made a big mistake,” he went on, “someone like Dybala, if you don’t have him, you try to get him. And if you have him, you hold on to him tightly.”
