Inter defender Milan Skriniar feels that the team have given themselves a big boost in the Serie A title race with their 1-0 win over Juventus earlier this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the final whistle, the 27-year-old gave his initial reaction to a match which saw the Nerazzurri defend with their backs to the wall for long periods but eventually come away with three points.

Inter are now temporarily just three points behind AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table and also three behind Napoli with a game in hand on the Partenopei.

Not only this, but the team will feel more confident than ever in their ability to go on and get the points they need from their remaining games having won their most difficult remaining match of the season, at least on paper.

The performance was much more one of grit than of free-flowing football, but Skriniar and his teammates aren’t concerned with that right now and are only celebrating the vital result.

He characterized the win as “Three points that are vital, and we knew it. I’m happy with the team, because we fought until the last minute. It was a victory and a sacrifice that we needed.”

“Now we have a huge boost going into the next games,” he added.

As to the lack of style and control to the win, the defender reflected that “Matches can also be won like that. Now the three points are the only thing that are important. We’re playing for the Scudetto, everything is open.”
