Legendary former Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn feels that Inter-bound Ajax goalkeeper is stylistically like a cross between Barcelona’s Marc-Andre Ter Stegan and Liverpool’s Alisson.

Speaking to German tabloid Sport Bild in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, Kahn praised Onana who he predicted could become one of the top goalkeepers in the world.

Onana is all set to join Inter during the summer transfer window on a free transfer window, with the Cameroonian having been identified by the club as the chosen long-term successor to captain Samir Handanovic.

The 25-year-old has marked himself out as one of the most impressive young keepers in Europe during the past few seasons with the Dutch champions, despite serving a one-year doping suspension.

Onana has not yet fully developed his game and has suffered from some high-profile errors in recent matches since returning from his ban, but Kahn has no doubts about his quality.

“Andre Onana is in the top five best goalkeepers in the world,” he said. “Being from the younger generation he is much more flexible than we were.”

He added that “Onana is agile, quick, fast, powerful, and his ability to start play in buildup is excellent. He is kind of like a mix between Alisson Becker and Marc Andre Ter Stegen. This guy can become the best if he keeps working hard.”
