Former Inter, Napoli, and Perugia midfielder Salvatore Bagni believes that it is the Partenopei who are best-placed to win the Serie A title, though the Nerazzurri can challenge them.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Bagni suggested that Napoli have the superior individual quality to win the Scudetto and that Inter are likelier than AC Milan to rival them.

The Serie A title race looks tighter than ever, with the Rossoneri just a point ahead of the Partenopei, and also just a point ahead of Inter should they win their game in hand.

Things look likely to go down to the wire for the Scudetto, and the race could well be settled by which team can rely on the superior individual quality in the decisive moments.

For Bagni, Napoli are the side who have shown this kind of individual match-winning quality to come out on top in the remaining matches of the campaign.

“Napoli are favourites for the Scudetto,” he said. “For me this has been the case since August. They have twenty high-quality players, they only needed to bring in Anguissa, they play excellent football and have individual quality that makes the difference.”

“Milan and Inter don’t have so many decisive players,” he further argued.

The former midfielder continued that “Napoli have to worry about Inter more than Milan in the final matches.”
