Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is thinking of switching to a 3-5-1-1 system for this weekend’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona from the usual 3-5-2 formation.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the coach feels that the change in shape could get the best out of the personnel he has available and allow the players to link up better on the pitch.

The Nerazzurri have almost exclusively played a 3-5-2 system this season with two out-and-out forwards, but with Lautaro Martinez unavailable for the match against the Gialloblu through suspension Joaquin Correa is expected to start.

The 27-year-old is capable of playing as more of a striker, but at Lazio was frequently utilized in a Number Ten role behind the centre-forward, generally to good effect.

Inzaghi is increasingly feeling that if he uses Correa in this way, it will not only allow the team to link up better between the lines, but also that it can give the team some much-needed unpredictability in attack.
