Inter defender Milan Skriniar and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu both had big nights to help the club win 1-0 against Juventus in a massive result for their season on Sunday evening.

The pair’s performances were highlighted by Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who named them as the Nerazzurri’s standout performers in the win.

Skriniar had an eye-catching display, hardly putting a foot wrong and keeping the Bianconeri’s attack quiet, in particular making life difficult for striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Sky noted that the 27-year-old showed himself to be capable of being a real leader in Inter’s backline as he helped them to a clean sheet in a backs-to-the-wall defensive display.

Meanwhile, Calhanoglu put some indifferent recent displays in midfield behind him with a gritty display, forming and effective trio with Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic in spite of not showing the usual possession-heavy style.

The pressure will have been immense on the 28-year-old’s shoulders when he stepped up to re-take a decisive penalty having had his first effort saved by Bianconeri keeper Wojcjech Szczesny, but he slotted it away for the game’s only goal.
