Inter’s favoured midfield trio returned to some of their early-season form against Juventus but now they must start adding goals to the team, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport today, the trio of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcelo Brozovic showed some evidence that they are returning to the form that made Inter so dominant earlier in the season.

Nicolo Barella looked refreshed and aggressive, Hakan Calhanoglu was creative and Marcelo Brozovic showed control over the game despite not being fit.

The next step for the midfield is to start adding more goals to the team again. If you exclude Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty last Sunday night, the last goal by an Inter midfielder was in late January against Venezia when Nicolo Barella found the back of the net.

Simone Inzaghi can still be encouraged that his midfield could end the season strongly.
