Inter midfielder Matias Vecino has said that the Inter shirt represents pride and responsibility to him, according to a report in the Italian print media.
Speaking as part of an interview with the club for tomorrow’s matchday programme, the Uruguayan talked about the symbolism involved with the Inter shirt as far as he is concerned.
“It means pride and responsibility. In the history of this club there have been champions who have been an example for me, from Recoba to Veron.”
Matias Vecino has been at Inter for a few years now but last season and this season have been when he finally got the chance to lift trophies whilst wearing the Nerazzurri shirt.
He says that the path to the Scudetto under Antonio Conte and the Supercoppa Italiana victory under Simone Inzaghi started in 2017.
“The Scudetto and the Super Cup were a dream and the culmination of a path that we started in 2017 improving year after year. We are a determined group and we always work to be competitive. It is important to maintain clarity both in good times and in difficult ones.”
When choosing some of his favourite games in his career. Matias Vecino chose the 3-2 victory over Lazio in which he scored the winning goal and secured Champions League football for the club.
“It’s one of those matches that I will never forget because it allowed us to go to the Champions League. A comeback victory ended with my header that ignited the final party.”
It is expected that Matias Vecino will leave the club in the summer.
