AC Milan have been discouraged by the €40 million price tag that Sassuolo have put on Inter target Gianluca Scamacca, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera, there is a chance that Inter and AC Milan will battle it out to sign Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca this summer.

One element of the situation that could put an end to that fight is the €40 million fee that Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali is expecting to receive for his young striker.

The player will also need some clarity about whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic is going to be staying at the club next season or retiring.

Inter have been chasing the former Genoa forward for many months now and whilst they are still interested, the chase is effectively frozen until the Nerazzurri can offload players and free up money to complete the transfer.

Gianluca Scamacca is 23-years-old.
