Inter still have one game in hand on their two major rivals for the Serie A title, and this could be their wild card to make a decisive push over the remaining matches of the season.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who suggest that with the Serie A title race now down to the three teams at the top, the Nerazzurri could be counting on their extra match to play.

Inter are three points behind Napoli and four behind city rivals AC Milan at the top, having the head-to-head over the Partenopei but not over the Rossoneri.

The Nerazzurri, however, have eight matches left to play, while their two main rivals have just seven, so they will have the opportunity to suddenly catch up when they finally face Bologna as they had been scheduled to do in January.

After last weekend, it looks as though Juventus are out of title contention barring something truly extraordinary, and Inter will feel that despite still trailing at the top they will have their wild card to play.
