Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio isn’t expecting this evening’s Serie A clash with Hellas Verona to be straightforward or a step down in difficulty from last match’s win over Juventus.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, the 33-year-old stressed that the Gialloblu are a strong team and that he and his teammates are wary of their quality just as they were against the Bianconeri last weekend.

The Nerazzurri secured a vital result last weekend when they beat Juventus 1-0, getting back to winning ways after their miserable run of form going into the international break and doing so in very difficult circumstances.

That win will count for little, however, if the team cannot continue in the same vein over the matches they have ahead of them over the rest of the campaign, starting with Verona.

The Gialloblu have gotten big wins over top sides like Juventus and Roma already this season, and Inter will not be taking any result for granted against Igor Tudor’s men.

Looking back to last Sunday’s victory over Juventus, D’Ambrosio stated that “Immediately after the game we felt very happy to have won against such a strong team, especially as we’d suffered and realized that only by suffering together can we achieve great results.”

“This enthusiasm passed quickly, however, because then we started thinking about Verona,” he went on. “Today we face an equally strong team.”

On how they plan to counteract the Gialloblu’s tactical approach, D’Ambrosio named “The spirit of sacrifice and teamwork.”

“Eleven attack and eleven defend,” he emphasized, going on that “they play a particular brand of football, they mark one-on-one in every part of the pitch, it will be a match of duels.”

“Whoever wins more of their duels will take the three points,” he explained.

And on his message to fans now that the San Siro can finally accommodate full capacity, he said that “Thanks, certainly, because over the last two years, regardless of capacity, they’ve always let us feel their support.”

“This has always given us something extra,” he added, “today there will be many fans, we’ll try to send them home happy.”
