Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has picked up a muscle injury during the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 Serie A win over Hellas Verona earlier this evening.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the problem that forced the 30-year-old off at halftime was a strain to his left thigh.

De Vrij had started his first match for the Nerazzurri since last month’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg away to Liverpool, in which he had picked up a calf problem.

The Dutchman also had to come off the pitch during the second half of that match, and missed the Nerazzurri’s last two matches before the international break, while he was available against Juventus last weekend but was unused on the bench.

Against the Gialloblu, de Vrij made his first start back from the calf injury, but he did not return to the pitch with the rest of the team for the second half, being replaced by Danilo D’Ambrosio.

It remains to be seen how serious the injury to de Vrij is.
