The quest for the Serie A title during the run-in of the season will be of special significance to Inter’s quartet of major summer signings.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that all of Hakan Calhanoglu, Denzeul Dumfries, Joaquin Correa, and Edin Dzeko are fighting for their first Scudetto.

Calhanoglu joined Inter on a free transfer from AC Milan during the summer transfer window to replace Christian Eriksen, partly because he was convinced that he could win the title in Nerazzurri colours.

Now, the 28-year-old finds himself locked in a tight Scudetto race with his former team, with the Nerazzurri trailing their city rivals by four points in the table, albeit with a game in hand which could reduce this gap to just a point.

Meanwhile, Dumfries arrived from PSV last summer with the tough task of taking over from Achraf Hakimi on the right, but he has grown into the team and become a key player to their push for a second consecutive Scudetto.

In attack, Inter coped with the loss of Romelu Lukaku by signing Edin Dzeko from Roma and Joaquin Correa from Lazio, neither of whom have won the Serie A title before despite impressing in the Italian top flight.

The pair have the chance to help the team make one final push for the title over the decisive final matches of the season and vindicate the club’s decision to bring them in from the Italian capital.
