Inter winger Ivan Perisic feels that the team showed their Scudetto credentials with their 2-0 win over Hellas Verona earlier this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, the 33-year-old gave the view that if the Nerazzurri can keep putting in displays like the one that they did to beat the Gialloblu then they can be Serie A title favourites.

The Nerazzurri beat Juventus last weekend to get back to winning ways and get the momentum back at the top end of the Serie A table, but that result would have been worth little if the team could not immediately follow it up.

Against Verona, Inter produced a display which was much more in control and precise than the gritty defensive performance by which they saw off the Bianconeri.

Now, the Nerazzurri are on track to defend last season’s Scudetto crown, though only if they can perform at a similar level in their remaining matches of the season.

“In February and March the results weren’t positive, but we’re still where we need to be, it is not over yet and we must keep going the way we did today,” Perisic said.

He went on that “I’d say that everything is easier on front of the fans, we’ve been without them for two years. After these two wins in a row we don’t yet feel like favourites – we did well until February and we have to keep going.”

“If we play, fight, and run like today I’m not afraid of anything,” he emphasized.

And on his second half switch from wingback to second striker, the Croat explained that “I’ve changed to many positions in my career, I only care about playing and winning.”
