Inter did not seem to miss the suspended Lautaro Martinez in attack during their 2-0 Serie A win over Hellas Verona yesterday evening, and if anything looked more coherent.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that the performances from the other forwards allowed the team to control the game more going forward.

Martinez missed out through suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Juventus last weekend, and Joaquin Correa came into the side in his place.

The 27-year-old played a solid game alongside Edin Dzeko despite a lack of real end product, while the Bosnian had one of his better matches of the season and scored the second goal to seal the victory.

The strike pair played an important role in stitching the team together and establishing the team’s physical and technical dominance over the Gialloblu in the midfield battle.

Inter played one of their strongest attacking matches of the season without Martinez, and it isn’t obvious how the 24-year-old will affect the balance when he returns starting this Friday against Spezia.
