Inter midfielder Matias Vecino is a target for Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri during the summer transfer window, but the Biancocelesti’s directors are skeptical of a move for him.

This according to yesterday’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that at present the capital club are unlikely to sign the 30-year-old as they do not want to add an aging midfielder to their squad.

Vecino is all but certain to leave Inter during the summer transfer window when his current contract runs out, but it remains to be seen where his destination with a number of teams in Serie A and abroad showing interest.

Sarri had already made the Uruguayan a target during the January transfer window, having worked with him before while coaching Empoli, but the interest came to nothing and the player remained at Inter.

The coach remains as keen as ever to bring Vecino in this summer, but even on a free transfer the Biancocelesti hierarchy are not considering him a serious target.
