Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi feels that the Nerazzurri are back in their best form after their win over Hellas Verona on Saturday evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the former defender suggested that the team’s performance to dispatch the Gialloblu was similar to their best displays of the season.

The Nerazzurri came up against theoretically difficult opposition in the form of Verona, who have already shown that they can cause any team problems by beating Roma and Juventus and drawing with Napoli among other reults.

However, this would not have been evident from the first half of the match, in which the Nerazzurri were in full control to go into halftime deservedly up 2-0.

In the second half, the Nerazzurri adopted a somewhat more defensive posture and the Gialloblu got more of a foothold in possession, but at the same time there never looked to be much of a threat to Inter’s clean sheet.

Bergomi analyzed the Nerazzurri’s season so far stating that “There were three important moments in Inter’s season – in the first half of the campaign they lost to Lazio, then a positive sequence came between November and December.”

“Then came the defeat in the derby where they had played well,” he named as another benchmark, “but then finally the third moment was the victory over Juventus which came despite not playing well.”

“Against Hellas Verona we saw a good performance from them, the kind which we haven’t seen for some time,” he added.

Regarding the title race, he said that “The squads of Milan and Napoli are not inferior to that of Inter, I’ve said it from the beginning.”

“Yesterday Inter changed their way of playing, immediately with a long ball and then Dzeko to Correa,” he explained. “They prepared the tactic well, but Verona are a team that are willing to mark one-on-one.”

“I look forward to their next matches,” Bergomi said.
