Former Roma and Pescara midfielder Stefano Impallomeni believes that Inter are currently the standout team in Serie A but that there is still plenty of room for them to slip up.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Impallomeni noted that even though the Nerazzurri are currently in a strong position, there will be opportunities for them to drop points unexpectedly before the season is through.

Inter have now gotten their head-to-head clashes with all of their rivals in the top four out of the way, while the hardest match left for them based on table position is Roma at the San Siro.

However, there are no straightforward matches in Serie A, and all of the top sides in the league have discovered that they can always suffer shock results even when they appear to be in top form.

The Nerazzurri have seven matches left, and if they take maximum points they are assured of the title, but they know full well that it would be impossible to take this for granted.

“They’re back in form,” Impallomeni said of the Nerazzurri, “maybe they’ve weathered the storm and found their way to calmer waters.”

“Inter were amazing in the first half,” he went on. “They smashed Verona in every way. If they play like this until the end, they are the strongest team. But the pitfalls aren’t over. There’s a tough away match in Udine for example.”
