Sesto San Giovanni Mayor Roberto Di Stefano feels that Inter and AC Milan can be guaranteed of a speedy timeline if they choose to build their new stadium in Sesto.

Speaking to Italian news outlet SportMediaset, Di Stefano gave the promise that his town would allow the clubs to begin work on the new stadium within a year and a half.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have grown increasingly frustrated with the delays to get full approval on their plans to build a new stadium to replace the San Siro in Milan.

These delays have prompted the clubs to begin to consider the possibility of abandoning their initial plans and building outside the city proper instead, with Sesto San Giovanni a leading candidate should they go ahead.

Di Stefano feels that this would be a completely viable option for the clubs and that if they do choose this path then they can be certain about a tight schedule.

“I can guarantee that once we have decided to build the stadium here, it would be possible to lay the first stone within eighteen months,” he said. “I confirm that there is an opening here for a new stadium for Inter and Milan.”
