Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is increasingly convinced of the duo of Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa as the strongest pairing in attack.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the coach now favours Dzeko and Correa for the remaining matches of the season with Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez as backups.

Correa came into the team in place of the suspended Lautaro Martinez in Saturday’s Serie A win over Hellas Verona, and despite not getting a goal or assist he had one of his better outings of the season.

The 27-year-old linked up well with teammates not only in the final third but also in midfield, and brought a balance to the Nerazzurri’s play as they controlled the game and broke down the Gialloblu’s man-marking defensive system.

The coach was very happy with what he saw from the Argentine, and is hoping that he can rely on similarly effective displays from the tandem of Dzeko and Correa in the matches to come.

Correa has not enjoyed much consistency this season as injuries have always curtailed any momentum he’s built up, and he’s not managed to play alongside Dzeko much.

However, now, in the climactic final period of the season, the coach is ready to put his trust in the 27-year-old, whilst Martinez and Sanchez as well as Felipe Caicedo will always be there to offer a different kind of threat.
