Inter are almost certain to extend the contract of captain Samir Handanovic going into next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who report that the Nerazzurri are adamant on heading into next campaign with Handanovic and Andre Onana both as options in goal.

Onana is all set to join on a free transfer from Ajax during the summer transfer window and will be the long-term successor to Handanovic in goal, but this does not mean that the Nerazzurri are ready to move on from their captain.

Contract talks with the Slovenian are ongoing, but the aim of the club is to extend his deal which as it stands is set to expire at the end of June.

The Nerazzurri want to go into next season with the security of both the experienced Handanovic and the highly promising Onana available to be called upon, so they will work to renew with their current captain.
