Inter will face a legendary former player on the bench when they travel to Liguria to face Spezia in the form of Thiago Motta, but there will be another former Inter player hoping to get one over on them.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who note that former Nerazzurri striker Rey Manaj has been enjoying some of his best and most consistent form in La Spezia.

Manaj joined Inter from Cremonese in the summer of 2015 having also been linked with Roma, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus, but he was unable to really make an impact.

The Albanian made just six appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions and went out on a few loan spells before being sold permanently to Albacete.

The striker then joined Barcelona’s B team, and last summer made the switch to Spezia on loan, where he has made 22 appearances and scored four goals in Serie A.

The Ligurians are happy with the performances from the 25-year-old and reportedly ready to make his loan a permanent stay, and he’ll be glad to have found a consistent patch of form and a prominent place in the team.

And in the meantime, Manaj will be aiming to make a positive impression once again against his old team the Nerazzurri and spoil their hopes of three points on Friday evening.
