River Plate Sporting Director Enzo Francescioli has denied that the Argentine giants are interested in signing Alexis Sanchez from Inter during the summer transfer window.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, Francescioli stated that the Argentine club have not contacted the Nerazzurri about signing the Chilean despite rumours that they are ready to move for him this summer.

Sanchez is all but certain to leave Inter during the summer transfer window, but his destination is unclear, and a return to River where he spent a season on loan earlier in his career has been reported.

This is not the only club reported to have approached the Nerazzurri, but according to their Sporting Director there is no basis to the reported interest.

Francescioli was very clear in denying the interest and suggested that it is nothing more than a rumour which may have arisen from some loose talk but not from any facts.

“This is the first time I’ve heard about it,” he said, “I honestly don’t know where all this came from. Nobody talked to me, I’m not responsible if someone talks, but this is not good one way or the other.”
