Former Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has said that he sees Inter as the favourites to win the Scudetto this season and said that he likes Lautaro Martinez, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with La Stampa, the Parma goalkeeper explained that Inter seemed to dominate the championship, then struggled but now he sees them as the favourites to win the title for the second year in a row.

“Usually one team dominates and others chase them. The one that seemed to dominate was Inter, but then they struggled, but they relaunched by winning in Turin and now I see them as the favourite again.”

Inter have now got their fate back in their own hands because if they win their game in hand, they will be one point ahead of AC Milan. Two weeks ago it seemed that the dream had almost died.

When asked about which striker he currently admires in Serie A, Gianluigi Buffon highlighted Inter forward Lautaro Martinez.

“Vlahovic is dominant in terms of physique, quality, strength, anger. I like Zapata and Lautaro. And Ibrahimovic who at 40 can still win alone.”

Inter are heavily linked with a free transfer for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala but the goalkeeper does not think the Bianconeri are making a mistake.

“I didn’t expect it, but the club was honest and direct in explaining that he is no longer central to the project. They have not renewed his contract for this reason, certainly not because they consider him poor: Paulo will find the opportunity to do great things elsewhere, but it will not mean that Juve made a mistake.”
