Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio wants to bring Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic back to the club this summer, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Tuttosport today, Piero Ausilio has singled out Mateo Kovacic as someone that can improve Inter’s midfield next season without breaking the bank.

The Croatian midfielder currently plays for Chelsea in the Premier League and Piero Ausilio thinks that he could be open to leaving the club as he is not a key player there.

Chelsea are currently banned from selling or buying players until their ownership situation is concluded so any move would take time to negotiate.

Joining from Dinamo Zagreb in 2013, Mateo Kovacic made 80 appearances for Inter and scored five goals. He was then signed by Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2015.  He has now been at Chelsea since 2018 after an initial loan spell at the London club.
