Inter youngster Franco Carboni has said that he dreams of playing in the Inter first team and he has to thank Simone Inzaghi and Antonio Conte for letting him train, according to a report in the American media today.

Speaking during an interview with Goal.com, Franco Carboni explained that his aims right now are just to finish the Primavera season well but the left midfielder knows that his overall aim is to be in the Inter first team.

“Right now I’m thinking of finishing the season well with the Primavera. We have an important game, like the playoffs, that we want to win. Then, at the end of the season, we will evaluate with my agent. I have always set myself short-term goals, but I dream of playing in the first team at Inter or in a Serie A club.”

Talking about why he joined Inter in the first place when he also had offers from clubs such as Liverpool and Juventus, Franco Carboni explained that the project presented to his family was what clinched it.

“There have been proposals from different clubs, but I’ve always wanted to play here. The project that the club presented to my family was very nice and we chose to come to Inter. Thank God it turned out to be the right choice.”

Whilst he has never played a game in the Inter first team, Franco Carboni has trained with the first team under both Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi and he has remained thankful for that.

“I have to thank Antonio Conte. I trained with him for four to five months in the first team and he put me on the bench for the first time in Serie A. It was a very nice experience and I thank him for the opportunity he gave me.

“Also with Simone Inzaghi, I went on the bench, even in the Champions League. He gave me a wonderful experience and I thank him too.”

When asked about who his role models are at the club, Franco Carboni said that obviously Javier Zanetti is one and also Ivan Perisic as they play in the same position.

“At Inter there is always Javier Zanetti, even if he played on the right and I play on the left. For me he is one of the best in history in that role and it is a real pleasure to talk to him. He is always very nice to me, he is a great person.

“In today’s Inter I really like Ivan Perisic. Playing in his role, I always observe him. I try to learn from him because he is very strong for me.”

Franco Carboni recently got his first call up to the Argentina senior squad which meant he got to train with Lionel Messi.

“It was something that I dreamed of as a child and that I experienced at that moment. Training with him, taking possession of the ball, but also eating at the table with him.”
