Former Inter, Parma, and Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta feels that the Nerazzurri are currently the team with the best chance of winning the Scudetto but that right now no team looks sure to run away with it.

Speaking to Italian news outlet JuventusNews24, Ballotta suggested that every team at the top end of the Serie A table seems to be some way from taking decisive control of the Scudetto race.

If Napoli are to win against Roma on Monday then this will be the first weekend since January that every one of the three title rivals at the top end of the Serie A table win their matches, with Inter and AC Milan having won yesterday.

Each of the three teams at the top of the table has enjoyed moments of impressive form that could act as a platform to go on and win the Scudetto, but at the same time each has also unexpectedly dropped points when they’ve needed to keep winning.

Ballotta feels that this situation makes decisively predicting a favourite difficult, but that the Nerazzurri are a bit ahead for it.

“At the moment I’m saying Inter,” he said of the favourites for the Serie A title, “because they’re the team who’ll have the point advantage if they win their game in hand against Bologna.”

“Now the numbers are what’s important,” he added. “They will have difficulty keeping their advantage, but right now they have an advantage.”

“But this season it seems to me that nobody wants to win the Scudetto,” he continued. “There are teams at the top of the table who aren’t equipped to always fight and bring home results.”

Ballotta gave the view that “Inter are the most complete in terms of their squad, but they too have had many ups and downs.”
