Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has said that Robin Gosens’ playing time has been hindered by the great form shown by Ivan Perisic this season, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during his post-match press conference after the Spezia game, via FCInternews, the coach explained his decision to start with Ivan Perisic on the left instead of Robin Gosens who seemed to be set for his first start for Inter since joining the club in January.

“How is Gosens? He is going very well, I evaluated him to play and then I decided to play Perisic, the game then went in that direction with the changes, but he is a player who is well and trains. Perisic’s form penalises him a bit, but I know that Robin will be very useful in these last games.”

Robin Gosens joined with an injury but he is now fit and has made plenty of substitute appearances.

Lautaro Martinez is another player that started the match on the bench even though many felt that he would be starting alongside Joaquin Correa in attack.

“There are evaluations, there are close matches. I think he has entered the field well as well as Sanchez and Correa. I am happy with them as well as with Caicedo who is doing very well.”

Simone Inzaghi also stressed that he needs his whole squad to be fit and ready to play when asked as they head into the final six or seven games of the campaign.

“I think that with a team like this it is wrong to talk about very titular players, they all played during the year. We play every three days and everyone will be needed. We had time to train and this morning we chose the formation with complete peace of mind.”
