Inter striker Edin Dzeko needed to have more of an impact in the final third in yesterday evening’s Serie A win over Spezia, according to Italian media.

The Bosnian came in for some criticism in the player ratings for the match across Italian match, where the consensus is that he held the ball up well but had no cutting edge in the penalty area.

Dzeko once again showed that with his physicality and technical ability he can be an excellent reference point for the team and bring his teammates into play to keep possession ticking over.

However, the 36-year-old got few chances in the penalty area, where he was not incisive or dynamic enough at trying to sniff out opportunities, especially compared to the impact that Lautaro Martinez had when he came on.

The Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere della Sera both gave Dzeko just a 5/10 grades, whilst all of TuttoMercatoWeb, Tuttosport, and L’Interista went one higher with a 5.5/10 score.
