Marcelo Brozovic Increasingly A Leader For Inter On The Pitch After Contract Extension, Italian Media Highlight

Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is increasingly looking like the leader of this Nerazzurri team on the pitch and this has coincided with his contract extension signed with the club last month.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight how he showed the full range of his abilities yet again in the team’s 3-1 win over Spezia yesterday evening in Serie A.

The confirmation of Brozovic’s extension was welcome news at Inter, with the talks having been ongoing for some time without absolute agreement and putting pen to paper to keep the 29-year-old at the club past the end of June.

The Croat has shown with his displays in the three matches since he signed the new deal during the international break just why he is such a vital and irreplaceable player for the Nerazzurri.

Brozovic scored his first league goal of the season to open the scoring against Spezia, doing very well to finish from a header down from Danilo D’Ambrosio of his own well-placed ball into the area.

This was only the tip of the iceberg as far as the midfielder’s contribution, however, as he ran, defended, made himself constantly available as a passing option, and was they key man to his team’s distribution in possession.

The goal, Brozovic’s first in Serie A for the campaign but not his first in all competitions as he scored against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League, was the last thing missing from Brozovic’s game based on his performances this season.

Now the Croat has committed his future to Inter until he is 33 at least, and his displays have continued to demonstrate why this is so important for the team.
