Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo feels that Inter will be looking to do everything they can to put their league loss at the hands of AC Milan behind them when they face the Rossoneri in the Coppa Italia tomorrow.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, Parolo gave the view that the Nerazzurri will be aiming to find redemption after the loss to their city rivals had been a major stumbling block in their Serie A season.

Inter suffered just their second league defeat of the campaign when they played their second Milan derby at the beginning of February, and it was a damaging result which allowed Milan as well as back as Napoli back into the title race.

The Nerazzurri’s form tailed off for much of February and March, as the team seemed to be suffering from something of a hangover following the Rossoneri’s dramatic second half comeback to hand them the defeat.

Now, Inter are back on track with three Serie A wins from three since the return from the international break, and they will be aiming to keep this up by beating their city rivals for the first time this season.

“The Nerazzurri will have a tough match,” Parolo said of the derby clash, “they’ll want to redeem themselves after  the result of the second derby in the league, to win and give themselves an air of authority again.”

He characterized this as “An important week for the Milanese, the next round of Serie A could be decisive.”

About Inter wingback Ivan Perisic, Parolo stated that “He’s like a robot, this year he doesn’t let his level drop ever.|

“He keeps going up and down on the flank, back and forth, he doesn’t stop,” he added. “On Friday he also showed a great bit of invention on his assist for Lautaro.”
