Former Inter and AC Milan defender Fulvio Collovati believes that the Nerazzurri are now back to their best after having suffered a major dip in form in February and March.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, the 64-year-old specifically identified the win over Hellas Verona as having proven that the Nerazzurri have found themselves again.

Inter had suffered from their worst period of the season from the start of February until the last international break, winning just once in Serie A to see their title pursuit put in serious jeopardy.

However, the team look to have finally produced a response by winning all three of their matches back from the break, first by securing a gritty away win against Juventus and then more convincing displays against the likes of Verona and Spezia.

For Collovati, the 2-0 victory over the Gialloblu was a particularly clear indicator that Inter have put their wobble in the rearview mirror.

“The most important piece of evidence was the first half against Verona,” he said, “more than the match against Juve.”

“After a first half of that kind, all the things we had heard about Inzaghi’s team were shown to be false,” he added. “Barella was said to be in a period of decline, instead then he was the best player on the pitch.”

Collovati continued that “Inter are back in their best form, the problem was mental and not physical. Now they’re in a totally different phase, the victory against Juve gave a major boost.”
