Inter are targeting out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos this summer, partly for the reason that he could act as a backup to Marcelo Brozovic in the squad.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri like the 25-year-old’s versatile profile to fill in multiple midfield roles.

Ceballos looks destined to leave Real this summer, with the Spaniard having found playing time very hard to come by since returning from injury.

The midfielder is aiming to re-launch his career after having failed to cement a place for himself in the Spanish capital and also in two inconsistent loan seasons in the Premier League with Arsenal, and he is open to joining Inter.

The Nerazzurri could see loaning the 25-year-old in as an inexpensive option to reinforce their options in the centre of the park, whilst the player’s ability to play the regista role is also interesting them.

A player capable of playing in the deepest role in the midfield trio has become a priority for the summer transfer window, as the team’s inability to function properly when Brozovic is absent has been exposed at times this season.
