Player Ratings – Inter 3 – 0 AC Milan: Lautaro Martinez & Ivan Perisic Lead Nerazzurri To Coppa Italia Final

Inter are through to the final of the Coppa Italia after defeating cross-town rivals AC Milan 3-0 in a packed Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The Nerazzurri were off to a flyer when Lautaro Martinez scored a stunning volley after just four minutes. This was the signal of a great spell where Inter dominated until the 25th minute mark when AC Milan took over.

But Lautaro Martinez scored his and Inter’s second in the 40th minute when chipping the ball over Maignan after a lovely through ball by Joaquin Correa.

In the second half AC Milan started off much better and were in charge of things for most of the half, scoring a goal which was correctly chalked off for offside.

Then Robin Gosens opened his Inter account by scoring Inter’s third assisted by Marcelo Brozovic to make it 3-0 which meant the Nerazzurri go to Rome to play in the Coppa Italia final.

Samir Handanovic – 7: Made a couple of very important saves, especially in the first half which could’ve changed the fate of the game had they gone in.

Milan Skriniar – 8: With all due respect to Samir, Inter’s real captain is a Slovakian wall who bears the same name as the best team of the city he plays for.

Stefan de Vrij – 7,5: A performance worthy of the player named the best defender in the Serie A a couple of seasons ago. His elegance is a joy to watch.

Alessandro Bastoni – 7: Very good defensively but struggled a little bit in attack. Made quite a few important last minute lunges to block shots & win tackles.

Matteo Darmian – 7,5: Some questioned if starting him was a wise decision and he silenced them all in the opening 5 minutes with a great assist for Lautaro Martinez’s opener.

Nicolo Barella – 7,5: Isn’t back to his best form just yet but looks more and more like the player Inter-fans fell head over heels in love with last season.

Marcelo Brozovic – 8: Has stepped up a gear since signing that contract extension, got an assist but more importantly is the big brain in Inter’s midfield.

Hakan Calhanoglu – 6,5: Had a decent to good performance but game away too many balls too easily in the middle, especially in the second half when tiring.

Ivan Perisic – 9: Another stellar performance by Inter’s most consistent as well as arguably best player of the season. Did everything but score. Leader.

Joaquin Correa – 8: His movement, speed, intelligence and technique were all a joy to watch, especially in the first half. Lovely assist for Lautaro’s second.

Lautaro Martinez – 9: Outstanding. Scored a lovely brace, constant threat to Milan in attack & worked his socks off defensively. His best ever match for Inter.

Edin Dzeko – 6: Replaced an exhausted Lautaro Martinez in the 70th minute and didn’t offer too much in attack but worked hard defensively as always.

Alexis Sanchez – 6: Came on in the 70th minute for Joaquin Correa and did what he was supposed to do: hold up ball and create but without much success.

Arturo Vidal – 6,5: Brought on for Hakan Calhanoglu in the 73rd minute minute and you could tell how he loves these big occasions. Energetic and fired up.

Robin Gosens – 7: Substituted on in the 79th minute instead of Ivan Perisic and got to open his account when latching on to a ball from Marcelo Brozovic.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: Was brought on the 79th minute for an Alessandro Bastoni who limped off. Did what he always does: solid defensively without fuss.

Simone Inzaghi – 9: Without a doubt his most important win given the Serie A table. Got pretty much everything right from starting line-up to substitutions.

Maurizio Mariani – 6,5: Got all major decisions right together with the VAR but also made lots of minor mistakes in terms of maintaining a consistent level.

Inter – 8: You could see from the very first minute that this was a team that was angry and wanted to take revenge on AC Milan & boy did they.
