Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri believes that current Nerazzurri wingback Ivan Perisic is going more and more to establish himself as a top player this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Ferri gave the view that the Croat is having one of his best seasons ever and that he is now a truly exceptional player.

Perisic arrived at Inter from Wolfsburg during the summer of 2015, and he established himself as a bright spot in a Nerazzurri team who often badly struggled for form in Serie A.

However, the Croat went on loan to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019, leaving his future at the Nerazzurri in doubt, before returning in the summer of 2020 where he was eventually reintegrated into the team.

Perisic won the Scudetto for the first time last season, but even at this point he was linked with an exit last summer.

Instead, the 33-year-old remained in the team, and he has surprised many by being one of the team’s standout performers all season.

For Ferri, “He’s having one of his best seasons ever, he runs up and down the wing like few others and adds energy and quality. He’s an unbelievable player.”

Regarding the transfer market this summer, he gave the view that “The team is competitive, but we need to improve to close the gap with the biggest teams in Europe.”
