Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is extremely pleased that the team has managed to reach the final of the Coppa Italia by beating city rivals AC Milan in the semi-finals.

Speaking to InterTV, Martinez explained how the team have only taken confidence from their 3-0 win over the Rossoneri yesterday evening.

The job is still far from done for Inter, with a Coppa Italia final against either Juventus or Fiorentina on the horizon in three weeks in addition to six more matches in the run-in of an incredibly tight title race.

However, right now the Nerazzurri have plenty of positives to take after they showed all of their quality as well as determination to see off their city rivals 3-0.

Inter kept a clean sheet and showed all their potency in attack, particularly Martinez in the first half, to finally win the Milan derby at their fourth attempt this season.

“I always try to scorel, today fortunately I scored two good goals, but I say thanks to my teammates, in particular to Darmian and Correa who assisted me with two great balls,” he said.

The striker went on that “It was important to get to the final, our second of the year. We work for this and therefore we’re happy. We showed character, personality and also a quality match.”

He said that the team leave the match with “A lot of confidence certainly, a lot of happiness. The derby must be won, today it was a semi-final and the draw after the first leg wasn’t enough. We prepared for it well and played great.”

To the fans, Martinez said “As always, they support us and I thank them. The lift that they give us is massive.”
