Inter have asked Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to remain patient as they consider whether they could sign him back from the Blues in the summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Belgian is in regular contacts with the Nerazzurri’s directors though considerable work would have to be done before he can join in the summer.

Lukaku has made no secret of his desire to return to Inter after his move to Chelsea from last summer has not worked out for either the 28-year-old or his current club.

The striker still speaks to his former teammates at Inter regularly, while he has also been sounding out the possibility of a sensational return with club directors.

The message from the Nerazzurri directors has been clear – significant work would have to be done by the club to make the move financially viable, so for now he must hang tight.
