Inter wingback Ivan Perisic vied to establish control of his flank with AC Milan right-back Davide Calabria in yesterday evening’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg, and he won his battle decisively.

The Croat received very high scores for his performance in the player ratings for the match across the board in Italian media, as highlighted by L’Interista, who especially note the importance of his duel with Calabria.

Perisic did not score or assist a goal yesterday evening, but he did virtually everything else and was vital to the 3-0 win on both sides of the ball.

The Croat’s incredible goalline clearance to deny Franck Kessie in the first half was an obvious highlight, but his running and positioning were a big part of the reason the Nerazzurri had such comprehensive control of proceedings in the first half.

Calabria as well as Alexis Saelemakers were run ragged, and all of TuttoMercatoWeb, L’Interista, Tuttosport, and the Corriere dello Sport felt that the display was worthy of a 7/10 score whilst the Gazzetta dello Sport went to 7.5/10.
