Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi never doubted that his team would have enough to reach the Coppa Italia final against AC Milan.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the coach always felt confident about qualification for the final despite his team’s dip in form in February and March.
The first leg of the Nerazzurri’s semi-final clash with their city rivals cam right in the midst of their worst run of the season, and saw them play out a cagey 0-0 draw to leave everything very open for the second leg.
Facing the Rossoneri again in the form that they were showing at that time could well have proved too difficult a task for Inzaghi’s team, leaving their qualification for the final very much in doubt.
However, the Nerazzurri faced the second leg in much better condition, having picked themselves right back up with three consecutive wins, and now will go on to face Juventus in the final.
Inzaghi feels vindicated in the fact that he never really lost faith in his team even during a spell which saw them struggle and doubts start to creep in.
