Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has said that Inter’s transfer strategy this summer must foresee the sale of a big player and cast doubt over Lautaro Martinez’s future at the club, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport today, via FCInternews, Gianluca Di Marzio explained that a big departure from Inter this summer is very likely because it is the only real way for Inter to fund any other deals they want to do whilst making a profit.

“I believe that Inter’s strategy must involve a sale. Then it will depend on the kind of offers that will arrive and for which players; it is clear that if Lautaro continues to score in this final season he will be the most attractive one.”

There is interest in Lautaro Martinez from all over the continent, particularly in the Premier League and La Liga. It is believed that Spain is a more attractive proposition for the Argentine striker.

“We know that they like him a lot in the Premier League, where the Argentine does not want to go, but especially in La Liga, a league that could intrigue him the most. Atletico Madrid are there: we will see if they will decide to invest in the attack.

“Barcelona, for example, does not have the potential to make an offer, it will depend on the dynamics of the market, on the pool of strikers.”

Gianluca Di Marzio then made it clear that he is not confident in saying that Lautaro Martinez will be Inter’s striker next season given the situation at the club and with the player himself.

“If you ask me: ‘Is Lautaro staying?’ I would say that I don’t feel confident telling you that he will be Inter’s centre forward next year.”
