Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has said that Inter were better than AC Milan in both an attacking sense and a defensive sense on Tuesday night, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Serie A News, Riccardo Ferri analysed the 3-0 win that Inter enjoyed in front of a packed San Siro on Tuesday evening to book their place in the Coppa Italia final against Juventus.

“As for what I saw, it was a good match. Very hard-fought, with two teams who absolutely wanted to bring home the result and who faced each other head on.

“Even stretching themselves in the first half. Trying to risk something both on one side than on the other. I must say that, from the point of view of solidity and minimising errors, Inter did better both in the attacking phase and in the defensive phase.”

Riccardo Ferri was then asked if this game will have any real effect on the Serie A title race which many feel is just between the two Milan sides now.

He admitted that these games can have an effect both physically and mentally on players but they will be used to it by now.

“All games, won or lost, can affect the head and legs of those who played. But it is also true that when you do this profession you are used to having sudden ups and downs. To have disappointments and joys at the same time. I think the players are used to this. Milan, even if Inter still have to play against Bologna, are first in the table.”

One topic of discussion around Inter right now is the future of Lautaro Martinez. He may be sold by Inter to help bring money into the club. Riccardo Ferri trusts the executives at Inter to do what is right for the team.

“It is normal for any club that has players of this level within its squad that they are attractive on the international market. In this case, European. So it is normal to talk about Lautaro.

“But I believe that Inter Milan has a great ability on its side: that of having a very good managerial class, strong and reactive on the market and very attentive to everything that moves. There is no doubt that they will then decide what to do when important offers arrive.”
