Former Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan has revealed that he told Romelu Lukaku not to leave Inter and join Chelsea last summer, according to a report in the broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with beIN Sports, via FCInter1908, the Belgian midfielder who had regular contact with Romelu Lukaku revealed the advice that he gave the striker.

“I told him he was wrong to leave Inter, he was the king there. He was perhaps the best striker in the world. But he couldn’t say no to the club of his heart.”

Romelu Lukaku was the primary source of goals at Inter under Antonio Conte and he was adored by the fans and had a great relationship with Lautaro Martinez upfront.

Despite all that, he decided to take the opportunity to return to his boyhood club Chelsea as they had met Inter’s asking price for him.

It is not the first time this has happened in his career but it does not seem to be working out for him. he made it clear in an interview at the end of 2021 that he wants to return to Inter.

On that issue, Radja Nainggolan said: “It is the third time he has gone to Chelsea and it is the third time it has not worked.”
